MLB OBP ANALYSIS

November 2021

Using batting data from the 2019 March and April Philadelphia Phillies, I predicted the full-season on base percentage for each player, and compared it to that player's actual full-season OBP.

NBA FOUL ANALYSIS

Fall 2021

Using play-by-play data from the 2020-2021 NBA season, I investigated the impact of fouls and foul shots on the game and season outcomes.

ML FAIRNESS MODEL

Summer 2021

While interning with Leidos, I was able to work on implementing the GAPF model that I had studied at UMD in 2019 on the HAR dataset and the GENKI dataset.

FIREARMS DATABASE PROJECT

Spring 2021

For this project, I worked with classmates Mike Morabito and Taylor Lange to create a database for a firearms company. The final product included tables for all products, employees, customers, and transactions, as well as example SQL commands and relevant database diagrams.

MACHINE LEARNING TEXT ANALYSIS

Fall 2020

For this project, I worked with classmates Mike Morabito and Marc Hershey to complete four different text analysis projects on the same data: transcripts from different political speeches.

NUMERICAL RANGES - HONORS PROJECT

2019-2020

For this research I was selected to do an Honors Project during my senior year at Houghton College. I, along with advisor Rebekah Yates, continued our research into Numerical Ranges. This time, we focused on working toward a complete classification of the numerical ranges of all 3x3 matrices.

MATHEMATICS CAPSTONE PAPER

Spring 2020

This paper explores the nature of mathematics, the development of mathematics, and the integration of mathematics with the Christian faith.

ZERO RESEARCH PAPER

Spring 2020

I wrote this research paper on the history and different approaches to the number zero with classmates Aaron Monroe and Andrada Tuduc.

RANK OF A SPECIAL SKEW-SYMMETRIC MATRIX

Spring 2020

This paper introduces, explores, solves, and proves a unique problem involving finding the rank of a specific skew-symmetric matrix.

FAIRNESS IN MACHINE LEARNING

Summer 2019

For this research I participated in the University of Maryland's REU CAAR program. I worked with Ruochun Wang and Dr. Furong Huang. We worked toward understanding and fixing the problem of bias in machine learning algorithms because the more we rely on algorithms to make decisions for us, the more we must be sure they are fair.

NUMERICAL RANGES OVER FINITE FIELDS

Spring 2019

In this research I worked with classmates Aaron Monroe and Katelyn Cook as well as our advisor Dr. Rebekah Yates. We worked towards classifying the numerical ranges of specified 3 x 3 matrices over finite fields.

EXPONENTIAL DOMINATION IN DIRECTED GRAPHS

Spring 2018

For this research, I took the Research Seminar course for undergraduates that is offered at Houghton College. I worked with classmate Caleb Lyon and advisor Dr. Rebekah Yates. We explored what exponential domination would mean for specific kinds of directed graphs.

SOLAR-POWERED GO-KART

2016-2017

In the fall of 2016 and spring of 2017, I worked with classmates Kelsey Barrus, Joel Goetz, and Nate Parks to design, plan, and build a go-kart that ran on solar power with minimal oversight.

More projects coming soon!
